(http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=9998) Posted by Agent Guile on 04:02:2001 03:28 AM: To those of you who don't know it yet, SFRE is a hacked version of SF2. Pressing the start button while you're in the game changes your current character. Some of its features include. 1. Guile can do multiple super slow pinpoiting sonicbooms (if you're opponent jumps, the sonic boom also moves up) 2. Chun's hundred foot kick launches fireballs 3. Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku goes thru the entire length of the screen at the speed of light. I'm using Callus to play the game right now. It's so difficult to do a multi sonic booms with a keyboard. Is there a patch available that can help me execute special moves easier? Posted by Lar-ry$ on 04:02:2001 05:30 AM: where'd you download that? Posted by Maximum Burst on 04:02:2001 05:32 AM: yes it is called get a control pad or arcade stick for the PC. Twin Fireballs of doom baby. Posted by AKUMA2000 on 04:02:2001 05:32 AM: Never heard of Streetfighter Rainbow Edition.....lol Posted by Maximum Burst on 04:02:2001 05:35 AM: it was the bootleg version. Posted by ProfessorX on 04:02:2001 05:54 AM: they have that at a movie theatre arcade in LaVerne CA... game is hella tight. WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THIS!!!!!???? Posted by MarkyMark on 04:02:2001 05:57 AM: We've still got a copy of that at Folsom Gameroom . I played it once... by accident. Street Fighter II Accellerated P2 It's positively horrible. Posted by BlackShinobi on 04:02:2001 06:04 AM: you could do any move in the air after about 5 shoryukens you would come out of the bottom of the screen my 2 favorite memories of that game 1. turning into chun li in the middle of a hurricane kick and finishing it upsidedown 2. losing 100% health because I kept trying to shoryuken blanka out of his electicity in the air.( if you did a move while falling your would stop falling and do the move) so everytime I got electicuted I would try to do a move while I was still in the electricity. Posted by Maximum Burst on 04:02:2001 06:06 AM: I almost won the B board for this game off of ebay. I got screwed over though. Posted by PuReELiTE on 04:02:2001 06:06 AM: Street Fighter Rainbow is the shits!! Thanks for telling me how to switch characters! I didn't know how. Vega has a mean lock down lol. Btw, do you know how the computer can make so many fireballs come out with chun li and e honda? Posted by Maximum Burst on 04:02:2001 06:09 AM: just keep doing fireball with start over and over and over again. Posted by extraguy on 04:02:2001 07:03 AM: rainbow version was the hacked version of sf2. some people decided to screw around with game engine. Posted by BabiG on 04:02:2001 07:23 AM: With E.Honda you could do the hundred hand slap continuously, while shooting out slow homing fireballs...you couldn't lose (to the computer anyway) Posted by Agent Guile on 04:02:2001 08:08 AM: Actually, I just bought an Asian bootleg cd installer the game so I don't know where to download the stuff. Posted by Maximum Burst on 04:02:2001 08:14 AM: nice avatar agent and where did you buy it from. Posted by shinalkuma on 04:02:2001 08:21 AM: i've played it 3 times in my life. they had it in my town back in 1993. multiple fireballs air specials and the one thing that no one has mentioned here yet is that you can get out of the screen and into the other side of the screen with just holding the joystick in the direction you're going. it was the shit. where do you get it? you hunt for it and find the rom. tell me when you get and i'll congradulate you. ahahhahahhahahahha. Posted by Ryu1999 on 04:02:2001 09:24 AM: i play it in callus every now and then. i love ryu's full screen dragon punch and lightning speed hurricane kick. flooding the screen with fireballs is fun too Posted by Blacksmaru on 04:02:2001 09:43 AM: my favorite thing to do was with zangief, doing his spinning clothesline in the air and going up multiple screens....when time almost runs out...grab them and watch them get spinning pile drived through multiple screens....hahaha! Posted by Maximum Burst on 04:02:2001 09:56 AM: sorry should have been clearer. I knew you made your avatar I meant where did you buy the boot disk with SF2RE Posted by Crayfish on 04:02:2001 12:26 PM: Rainbow Edition Rainbow Edition came out of Hong Kong, like a lot of bootlegs in the JAMMA days. Thier are also a whole bunch of SNES SF2 bootleg versions like Black Belt Edition but none of them are as bonkers as Rainbow. You can get about 20 slow moving fireballs on screen at once then jump over and combo from the other side while the fireballs hit in the back. There is a FAQ covering many of the moves at: http://gamefaqs.com/ The game is playable in Mame, you need the roms for SF2, Champion Edition and Turbo as well as the Rainbow rom I think. Try here : http://arcadeathome.efront.com/roms.phtml Bonkers, Crayfish. Posted by MrWizard on 04:02:2001 09:52 PM: lol i wanna hold a rainbow edition tourney at shgl Posted by jcasetnl on 04:03:2001 01:48 AM: Damn, I guess I'm old. We used to play the 'kit' versions all the time back in the bay area. All the old skool fools remember. I remember the first time we saw them we thought they were great. We didn't know they were illegal hacks. Also, the very first ones were much tamer than the 'Rainbow Edition'. There were a ton of 'kits' out there. Some were pretty basic. You could do moves in the air and projectiles either went super slow (jab) or super fast (fierce) or curved or whatever, but you didn't have things like instant charging of moves or instant cancelling. The early ones didn't let you change characters during a round either. Others got progressively faster as the round went along. They'd start normal champion speed and then get as fast as if you held the buttons down during the ending in the original street fighter 2, by the end of the round. There were others that were totally insane with tweaked moves or with dizzy disabled or even with knock downs disabled!! (rediculous combos!). There was a kit at chabot college for the original sf2 also. No charging, invisible throws in mid air with no charge, and built in invisible throws. That kind of thing. I also saw one for Hyper fighting, but it was pretty basic. Just slowed-down projectiles and in-air projectiles. By the time Hyper Fighting came out we started to get tired of a new Street Fighter every week. I don't know about the rest of the country but in the bay area the 'kits' really did a lot of damage to the competitive scene. Hyper just wasn't really all that interesting by comparison for most, except the hardcore. Ah... the good ol' days. - j Posted by Agent Guile on 04:03:2001 05:07 AM: quote: Originally posted by Maximum Burst sorry should have been clearer. I knew you made your avatar I meant where did you buy the boot disk with SF2RE If you live in Asia like me, then there's no way you couldn't find a bootleg copy. That's the advantage of Asians over any other people WE GET INSANELY CHEAP BOOTLEG COPIES ALL DAY! Posted by darkmanzero on 04:03:2001 07:02 PM: I remember it. Here in Africa the bootlegs are more common. I hated it cos I wanted to play the real thing and all around me there was this crap where just by doing this: jump, fireball, fireball, land, fireball, repeat you could murder anyone. Scrubs sat at the machine doing that all day. I HATED it. There was an arcade near my house in Ikeja but I had to go 50km to Victoria Island every time I wanted to play real sf. Death to bootleggers, hackerz and pirates!!!!!! Long live emuz, tho! Posted by LOVER on 04:03:2001 09:15 PM: I'll play it when I go to B5 Posted by ShinJN on 04:03:2001 09:19 PM: Ah... the good 'ol junior high days. Rainbow edition was nuts. I played prolly 9 different versions. The multiple projectile version was the cheapest. No charge sonic booms and slow moving bouncing fireballs. The best version I ever played was the one with the slow moving up and down fireball with horizontal shoryukens. Other versions were pretty weak. A Rainbow Edition tourney at SHGL would be crazy. Posted by Lantis on 04:03:2001 10:23 PM: Rainbow Edition...I recall that there was a rumor floating around back then where they said there were more Rainbow Editions than official Champion Edition games! I doubt it, but I have really seen lots of Rainbow Editions and few official CE games...but maybe that's because the arcades around here have the tendency to be cheapskates. Oh well... I remember Ken's Shoryuken...complemented with 5 Hadokens to boot. Hit opponent, they get dizzy, and receive around 80% damage. Repeat, they die. 5 seconds to kill an opponent (94 remaining on the timer). Can't think of anything cheaper... There was also a semi-original move for Sagat called the "Tiger Flame" which was basically the Tiger Uppercut with a Yoga Flame coming out of his armpit! It was so funny, kinda like "smell my personal odor!" or "Speed Stick's got nothing on me!". Besides, the voice sample had Sagat's "Tiger!" overlapping Dhalsim's "Flame!". Was kinda loony... Super slow Sonic Boom...made up for even MORE Guile turtling (it was downright ridiculous). But the most confusing was the magic Zangief SPD. Zangief could be a screen away from you, and you would suddenly watch him do the SPD animation (you are still standing on the other side of the screen), and when he landed, you sustained the SPD damage! Talking about voodoo magic! Some wheeeeeeeeeere over the Rainbow...in Hong Kong...some where over the Rainbow, there is a world of cheeze. All times are GMT. The time now is 11:24 PM.
